||James Cordy-Redden returned to Vallis Way for the start of 2016-17 having previously joined the club on a short-term basis in February 2016 from the England 7s squad. He marked his debut with a try at home to London Welsh and then appeared against Nottingham at Lady Bay a week later.
In 2016-17 he featured at wing, fullback and centre and scored six tries in 19 appearances.
Cordy-Redden had previously enjoyed an eclectic rugby careert. After leaving Cranleigh School in Surrey he played for Rosslyn Park during his gap year and then moved to Bristol to begin studying at the University of West England.
During his time studying in Bristol he played for Cross Keys and twice played against Ealing Trailfinders during the 2013-14 British and Irish Cup.
Through Welsh grandparents he qualified for to play for Welsh Academicals and Welsh Students. He also earned a place for the Great Britain Students 7s team at the 2013 University Games, where he played alongside current teammate Callum Wilson.
During another sevens adventure with Samurai at the Hong Kong Sevens he was spotted by England coach Simon Amor who brought him into the England 7s set-up.
