Walker and Holford to face old club

Alun Walker and Michael Holford will pack down together in the front row against their former club Nottingham in the Greene King IPA Championship on Saturday.

Hooker Walker spent a season on loan with Nottingham from Edinburgh before he signed on at Vallis Way in 2014. Prop Holford then followed him south a year later after four years with the East Midlands outfit.

They will team up in the front-row with Jamie Kilbane and are three of the 14 changes to the team that lost 48-12 to Rotherham Titans in the British and Irish Cup last Saturday.

Llewelyn Jones is the one player to retain his place, but moves from second to back-row, where he will pack down alongside Iain Grieve and captain and number eight Chris York.

Jones’ twin brother Carwyn returns in the second-row, alongside Adam Preocanin.

In the backs Director of Coaching Ben Ward goes with the same back-line that started the 27-3 win over London Welsh in the team’s most recent league fixture.

Alex Walker will start at scrum-half alongside Ward who will start at fly-half. Tom Wheatcroft and Danny Barnes are the centre pairing, with Phil Chesters and James Stephenson outside them on the wings and Luke Daniels at fullback.
