Trio of matches lined up for pre-season

Ealing Trailfinders will hit the road twice in pre-season before they wrap up their preparations for the 2016-17 Greene King IPA Championship season in front of their home fans at Vallis Way.

The first match is up the M1 where Director of Rugby Ben Ward’s team will face Coventry at their Butt’s Park Arena on Saturday 13 August. It will be a chance for Ealing Trailfinders to register a first win in three matches in Warwickshire having lost 32-26 during the 2014-15 season and 28-23 last pre-season.

Coventry are also likely to feature former Ealing Trailfinders players Tom Wheatcroft and Eoghan Grace.

The following weekend, Saturday 20 August the team will cross the Severn Bridge to face a Newport-Gwent Dragons Development XV at the CCBC Centre For Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach. It will be a trip down memory lane for scrum-halves Alex Walker and Joshua Davies who both hail from the city and began their rugby careers at Rodney Parade.

The final warm-up match will be at home to Hartpury College, a side Ealing Trailfinders beat twice during the 2014-15 season, but who took huge strides last season to finish second in National 1.

The Gloucester side’s visit will also mean a return to west London for former Ealing Trailfinders player Tim Brockett.
