Scarlets Premiership Select – Five Facts

Ealing Trailfinders are into the British and Irish Cup knockout rounds for the first time and take on the Scarlets Premiership Select XV in the quarterfinals at Vallis Way on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.

Here’s five facts on Ben Ward’s team’s latest opposition, who are made up from the best from Llanelli, Carmarthen Quins and Llandovery.

• Scarlets won four and lost two of their group matches to finish top of Pool 4 with 22 points. They defeated Nottingham home and away and Richmond and Leinster A at home, but lost at the Athletic Ground and Donnybrook. 
• Scarlets played their three homes matches at three different grounds - Church Bank, home to Llandovery RFC, The Park, Carmarthen Quins’ home and Parc y Scarlets, home of the Scarlets in the Guinness Pro 12 and European Cup.
• Dai Flanagan is the Scarlets Prem Select coach. He used to play fly-half for Pontypridd and has been part of the Scarlets set-up since 2014.
• The team are led by Tom Phillips, who captained Wales to the U20 Six Nations Grand Slam in 2016. 
• Rhys Lawrence, Kieran Murphy and Carwyn and Llewelyn Jones have all been involved in the Scarlets set-up at some stage in their careers.
