Richmond – Five Facts

Ealing Trailfinders take on Richmond at Vallis Way on Saturday in the Greene King IPA Championship. Here’s five facts about our rivals from the other side of Kew Bridge.

• The clubs have played each other for over 100 years and this is the highest level at which they have met.

• Ben Ward’s team won 38-12 when the sides met at the Richmond Athletic Ground in October thanks to tries from Aled Jenkins, Joe Munro, James Cordy-Redden, Alex Walker, Will Harries and Luke Carter. 

• Richmond succeeded Ealing Trailfinders as National 1 champions in 2015-16.

• Former Ealing Trailfinders players Rory Damant and Ronnie McLean-Dents were part of Richmond’s squad in 2015-16. Damant captained the side and McLean won his second successive National 1 title and third in total.

• Richmond FC were one of the founding members of the RFU and take their colours from a Belgian ban that was marching down Regent Street where committee members were enjoying refreshment at the Café Royal.
