Llew aiming for much improved performance
Llewelyn Jones has called for an improved performance when Nottingham visit Vallis Way in the Greene King IPA Championship this Saturday.
Jones led the team when they conceded eight tries on their way to losing 48-12 to Rotherham Titans in the British and Irish Cup last Saturday, but since then the focus has switched to putting it right against Martin Haag’s side.
“We said after the game on Saturday that the performance wasn’t acceptable and it has been a tough week’s training, but I think we needed it, ” Jones said. “A few boys didn’t put in the greatest performance in at the weekend, but we have the chance to put it right this weekend against Nottingham.
“Everyone knows deep down that that wasn’t acceptable. We’ve been focusing on having a big week’s training and putting the result right on Saturday.”
Two years ago Ealing Trailfinders enjoyed home and away wins against Nottingham, but such is Nottingham’s standing that such results can’t be taken for granted this time around.
Nottingham are currently sixth in the Championship table and have won two of their past three league matches, including an impressive 18-17 win away to London Scottish.
“It is a massive game and we back ourselves against anyone in this league, so we’re looking for a big win, ” Jones added.
“We haven’t been focusing much on them this week, just our own performance and we need to get that right, especially as we are playing at home.”
