Kenny to lead side at Ashton Gate

Danny Kenny will lead the side out when they take on Greene King IPA Championship league leaders Bristol under the lights of Ashton Gate on Friday.

Kenny will lead the side from number eight, between flankers Harrison Orr and Arthur Ellis.

The last time the side met two seasons ago Bristol ran away with an 82-28 victory, but Tom Parker’s late try secured Ealing Trailfinders a losing bonus point. Fly-half Ben Ward, wing Phil Chesters and second-row Adam Preocanin all featured in the team that day, while Rhys Lawrence started at hooker for Bristol.

Lawrence and Preocanin will join Kenny in the pack on Friday; Lawrence between another ex-Bristol player Will Davis and Sam Rodman, while Preocanin is in the engine room with Llewelyn Jones.

Ward will again form a half-back pairing with Walker after his return to action a week ago, while Chesters and Rhys Crane start on the wings, a week on from both scoring against Doncaster Knights last time out.

Danny Barnes and Toby Howley-Berridge will again team up in the centres, with Sam Stanley behind them at fullback.

On the bench new scrum-half Tom Trotter is part with the squad for the first time. He has joined as a replacement for Tom Bliss, who has joined up with the USA eagles squad for the America’s Six Nations ahead of signing a contract with the new US Pro League.
