ISG help Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club by supplying Apprenticeships for Academy duo.

Academy players Terrel Harry and Ellis Isaacs have secured apprenticeships with Cape Electrical & Mechanical Ltd, to assist their career development alongside their rugby careers.

Having alternative education pathways, such as apprenticeships, for players to pursue alongside their rugby aspirations is essential. In ensuring we are not only able to recruit players from all backgrounds, but provide them with opportunities off the pitch, that are as good as those on the pitch.

Ealing Trailfinders are committed to the personal and occupational development of every player at the club in order to build their confidence and opportunities within different environments that will help support their transition through and in time, out of rugby. Securing partnerships with companies and people who recognise the transferable skills of rugby players and are willing to further nurture their development is fundamental in making these pathways a positive, relevant and worthwhile experience for the players and the provider.

Speaking on the apprenticeship, Steven Mcgee, Managing Director of UK Construction at ISG commented -“When Ealing Trailfinders approached ISG to assist in securing construction apprenticeships for two of their academy players, it was immediately apparent that this was an opportunity to help Terrel Harry and Ellis Isaacs, help a tremendously successful sports club and address the skills gap in the construction industry.

When I approached John Swallow of Cape (Electrical & Mechanical) Ltd, he immediately offered to help and has since committed to providing (names here) employment on an Electrical Apprenticeship Scheme.

ISG is keen to continue this collaboration with Ealing Trailfinders and Cape (Electrical & Mechanical) Ltd and look forward to seeing the dual careers of Terrel and Ellis flourish both on our projects and on the rugby pitch.”

Player Development Manager at Ealing Trailfinders, Louise Meadows commented - “We are extremely grateful to Steven and Scott, along with everyone else at their companies that are supporting the off pitch education and progression of Terrel and Ellis.”
