Ellis to hit half-century against Jersey Reds

Arthur Ellis will make his 50th Ealing Trailfinders appearance when Jersey Reds visit Vallis Way in the Greene King IPA Championship on Saturday.

Ellis will pack down in his familiar openside flanker position, where he has played the majority of his matches since he joined his hometown club in 2014. In that time, he was voted Players’ Player and Coaches’ Player of the Year for 2013-14 and then played 22 matches and scored six tries in his first season in the Championship.

The 26-year-old will form a back-row with captain and number eight Mark Bright and flanker Willie Ryan, who scored his first try for the club a week ago against Cornish Pirates.

The rest of the pack is unchanged from the opening two rounds of the Championship.

Former Jersey Reds prop Ignacio Lancuba will make up a front-row with hooker Rhys Lawrence and Lewis Thiede. Carwyn Jones will pair up in the engine room with Harry Casson, who will be seeking a third try in three matches.

Last season’s leading scorer Rhys Crane returns to the backline, as does James Cordy-Redden. Crane will start on the right wing, while Curtis Wilson moves back to the left wing a week on from scoring twice against the Pirates.

Cordy-Redden comes back into the centre, alongside Joe Munro. Scrumhalf Luke Carter, fly-half Ben Ward and fullback Will Harries retain their starting places.
