Ealing Trailfinders to return to crease
Ealing Trailfinders rugby players will once again don their whites and strap on their pads when they take on their cricket counterparts in the now-annual inter-club Twenty20 cricket match.
The match will take place on the evening of 2 July, starting at 6pm, with refreshments available in the form of a barbeque and bar and the match will provide fans with a good chance to meet the players that they will be cheering on in the coming season.
Last year on a glorious summer’s evening Ealing Trailfinders Cricket Club narrowly edged a win 203-6 to 154 all out, but the rugby players showed a number of flourishes with both bat and ball.
Former Scotland junior player Chris Kinloch will again lead the team and is aiming to lead his team to an improved performance.
“Last year’s Twenty20 game against the cricket club was a really fun bit of team bonding and a great evening for all, ” Kinloch said.
“We took a bit of a hiding in the end so will be down in the nets twice a week in preparation for this year’s rematch in the hope we can give them a closer contest. I look forward to seeing some potential hidden cricketing skills from some of the new signings too.”
The now-departed scrum-half Morgan Thompson led the Rugby Club’s scoring with 34 and was closely followed by Phil Chesters with 29.
Tom Wheatcroft took a wicket three ball in thanks to some acrobatic fielding by Arthur Ellis and Thompson and Tom Brown also showed deft flourishes with their bowling.
