Davis and Gibbons sign on for another year
Ealing Trailfinders will again have strong competition for the loose-head prop berth after Will Davis and James Gibbons extended their contracts with the club for next season.
The pair have pushed each other hard for the number one shirt this season. Davis has played 18 times so far and Gibbons 22.
Davis moved up the M4 from his hometown club of Bristol in 2014 and helped the team return to the Greene King IPA Championship by winning the National 1 title.
Last season he played in 21 Championship and British and Irish Cup matches after returning to full fitness early in the campaign having missed the end of the previous season with a shoulder injury.
Gibbons is in his first season with club and signed on in time for 2016-17 pre-season from Aviva Premiership side Gloucester. He brought Championship experience from loan spells at London Scottish, for whom he played twice against Ealing Trailfinders, and Plymouth Albion.
“We are pleased to keep both Will and James next season,” Director of Rugby Ben Ward said. “It's great to have more players staying from this season to keep the continuity and shows where we are as a team that lots of our current squad want to stay and be part of what we are building.
“Both players have played a key role this season and I feel there still a lot more to come. It is really important that both players come back to pre-season in good shape so they can really kick on with their development next year. I’m looking forward to seeing them push each other hard for the number one shirt.”
