Charity calendar garners international fame
Ealing Trailfinders 2015 Charity Calendar has gathered international attention after it featured on the Mail Online, one of the world’s leading websites this week.
The calendar was devised to raise funds for Jack Fishwick, a former Ealing Trailfinders player who is quadriplegic after a rugby accident earlier in the year and initially appeared in The Evening Standard in the build up to the match away to Darlington Mowden Park.
With The Mail and Standard both part of Associated Newspapers the calendar’s fame soon spread across the newsroom and from then on it was only a matter of days before The Mail took interest in it.
It means the total sale of calendars is up to over 1, 000 and orders have flown in for the calendar from all parts of the globe, Australia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and so much so in Poland that the Club and the calendar were featured on Polish news.
“It is great that The Mail and Standard have taken an interest in our calendar and the response has been fantastic, ” Director of Coaching Ben Ward said. “We were always confident that the quality of the photos and the fact it was for a worthy cause would help sales, but what has happened this week is beyond anything we were hoping for.
“The key thing is that the publicity has increased sales and that means more money raised for Jack’s fund, which was the main reason for the calendar.”
Eagle eyed fans will also have spotted an advert featuring Club captain Tom Brown near the Hammersmith flyover and another with centre Ronnie McLean and scrum-half Tom Parker giving Christmas shoppers an early treat on their way into Westfield, White City.
