Bright, Mantella and Gibbons up against familiar faces

Mark Bright, Miles Mantella and James Gibbons will be up against one of their former clubs when London Scottish visit Vallis Way for the penultimate Greene King IPA Championship match of the season.

Mark Bright played for the Exiles for five seasons, while Mantella was at the Athletic Ground for four. Bright crossed Kew Bridge last summer and Mantella followed in December after six months at London Welsh.

Bright and Gibbons, who was on-loan from Gloucester, featured in the matches between the side’s last year with Bright scoring twice when London Scottish won 37-17 at Vallis Way.

Bright will captain the team from his familiar position of number 8, while Mantella lines up on the wing aiming to add to the five tries he’s scored in six matches so far this season. Gibbons begins among the reserves.

Flanker Arthur Ellis and prop Lewis Thiede also played for Scottish earlier in their careers and Ellis will start alongside Bright and Kieran Murphy in the back row.

Thiede will pack down alongside hooker Alun Walker and fellow prop Will Davis for the ninth match in succession, while Glen Townson and Barney Maddison will team up in the second row.

Mantella will wear the number 14 shirt and Phil Chesters starts on the opposite wing. Between them Joe Munro and Lewis Jones make up the centre pairing.

Luke Carter and Rory Clegg will form the halfback pairing for the fifth time in succession, while Will Harries continues at fullback.
